Pearls always look elegant unless they start to look dirty. Cleaning pearls is also tricky to avoid damaging them. Start by cutting off the bottom of an old pair of pantyhose and placing the pearls inside. Then add a tablespoon of mild shampoo to a bowl of warm water. Dip the protected pearls into the water and rub them with the hose cloth. Rinse with warm water, then remove the pearls from the pantyhose. If they look clean, dry them with a clean, soft towel.

5. How to Clean Tarnished Jewelry
No matter what material your jewelry is made of, it can become tarnished. If the more specific cleaning tips above don’t work, use this method to remove tarnish. Pour a large dollop of toothpaste into a bowl of warm water and swirl a toothbrush around in the water. Dip the jewelry into the mixture, then scrub it with the toothbrush until the tarnish disappears. Rinse the jewelry with clean water and pat it dry with a paper towel.
