Inflammation is a fundamental biological process that our bodies use to defend themselves from infection, injury, and toxins. However, when it becomes chronic, it can contribute to the development of numerous diseases. Let’s look at the myths of inflammation:
Myth 1: All inflammation is bad
In reality, acute inflammation is a natural and essential response of the body to injury or infection. It is the way our immune system fights pathogens and begins the healing process. Chronic inflammation, on the other hand, is a persistent condition that can damage healthy tissue and contribute to diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, and diabetes. So in other words, what I’m saying is that inflammation, acute in the short term is critical for your body to clear infections and toxins. It’s the chronic, long-term that is a problem. Once you get into that long-term inflammatory state, now you have a problem.
Myth 2: A healthy diet is enough to eliminate inflammation
While a balanced diet plays a crucial role in modulating inflammation, it is not the only determining factor. Environmental toxins, persistent infections, chronic stress, and unresolved trauma can also contribute to inflammation. For example, exposure to heavy metals or mold can keep an inflammatory response active, regardless of the quality of your diet. You can’t eat enough seaweed or cilantro to expel them from your body. You can’t. You need help and I really want you to understand that. I have had some people get mad at me for not talking about food enough in my programs because I don’t believe that you can get out of this situation by eating alone. I focus on a lot of different strategies to reduce inflammation versus eating. So not all inflammatory foods have the same impact on the body and that’s really important to know. Some are worse than others and it also depends on your gut health, your genetics, and your mitochondrial health.
Myth 3: Antioxidants Can Cure Inflammation
Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals and can reduce inflammation, but they alone aren’t enough to solve chronic inflammation. You need a holistic approach that addresses the root causes, like eliminating toxins, treating hidden infections, and managing stress. You can’t just take, you know, turmeric, curcumin, or just take green tea, or just take fish oil, you know.
Myth 4: Painkillers and CBD solve inflammation
Medications like lbuprof… and botanicals like CBD can relieve the symptoms of inflammation, but they don’t address the underlying causes. They can provide temporary relief, but for a lasting solution, it’s critical to identify and treat the root of the problem. How many people say, oh, I’m inflamed, I need my CBD Oh, I’m inflamed, I need my lbuprof….. So in reality, pain medications and herbs can relieve the symptoms. But it’s like a Band-Aid, it doesn’t address the underlying causes, the root causes of inflammation. And I want to be very clear about this. You could take CBD every day for six months and it wouldn’t fix the inflammation, it would just make it more tolerable. It would make it less painful. And when you stop, it will come back if you don’t address the cause.
Myth 5: Inflammation is just a symptom
Inflammation can be both a symptom and a cause of various health conditions. For example, in rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation is caused by an autoimmune attack on the joints, but in turn it perpetuates joint damage, creating a vicious cycle.
Myth 6: It’s too late to reverse chronic inflammation
Even if chronic inflammation has been present for years, it can be reduced or reversed by identifying and eliminating the root causes, such as infections, toxins, nutritional deficiencies, and stress. Targeted interventions can significantly improve your health and well-being. These are the four groups of root causes you hear me talk about most often. Chronic inflammation can be reduced and even reversed to improve your health.
Myth 7: Correcting hormone imbalances alleviates inflammation
While hormones influence inflammation, addressing hormone imbalances alone without considering other factors such as infections, toxins, and stress may not be enough. A comprehensive approach is essential for lasting results. I don’t overly focus on hormones in my programs. I don’t overly focus on the thyroid. I don’t overly focus on the adrenals. I overly focus on infections, parasites, bacteria, viruses, and fungi. I overly focus on toxins, all of them. Mold, toxins, heavy metals, PFAS, PFOS, eternal chemicals, volatile organic compounds, pesticides, herbicides, and radioactive elements…and on and on.
When we fix nutritional deficiencies, when we fix trauma and stress, When we fix toxins, etc., that’s when hormones start to improve. Adrenals start to come back. Thyroid medication doses go down. Gut health improves. So that’s a different approach.
Myth 8: Fixing the adrenals eliminates inflammation
Adrenal health is important, but chronic inflammation stems from multiple factors. Focusing solely on the adrenals may not solve the problem without addressing other underlying causes. Chronic inflammation stems from multiple factors, not just adrenal dysfunction.
Myth 9: Fixing your thyroid solves inflammation
Optimizing thyroid function is crucial, but inflammation often comes from multiple sources. Even with a healthy thyroid, you need to address the underlying causes of inflammation for full recovery.
Myth 10: Normal blood sugar levels mean no inflammation
Even with normal blood sugar levels, you can still have inflammation if your diet is high in refined sugars and processed foods. Monitoring your blood sugar is helpful, but it doesn’t guarantee that your body is free of inflammation.
Addressing chronic inflammation requires an integrated approach that considers multiple aspects of your health. In the course: “Eliminating Chronic Inflammation”, among other aspects, I also talk about:
1. Supporting mitochondrial energy production: Mitochondria are the powerhouses of cells. Optimizing their function is essential for overall health.
2. Opening internal drainage pathways: Ensuring that the body effectively eliminates toxins is essential to prevent the accumulation of inflammatory agents.
3. Restoring gut health: A balanced microbiome is crucial to modulating inflammation and supporting the immune system.
4. Eliminating stress and trauma: Chronic stress and unresolved trauma can keep inflammation active. Stress management techniques and psychological support can be beneficial.
5. Deep detox: Removing heavy metals, mold and other environmental toxins can significantly reduce chronic inflammation.
And now I want to leave you with this important thought.
There is no one-size-fits-all protocol. There is no magic pill, the ultimate supplement or the miracle diet.
You exist. With your story. Your body. Your toxic load. Your unprocessed emotions. Your ancient traumas. Your invisible imbalances.
This is why I don’t give you a prepackaged, one-size-fits-all solution. I teach you to look inside yourself, to read the signals your body is sending you, to understand where that inflammation that won’t let go really comes from.
I accompany you in treating your personal causes. The real ones. The deep ones. The ones that are at the root of all the symptoms you are experiencing. Because only when you start from there, from the biological and lived truth of your body, can you truly be reborn.
So if you feel lost, if you have already tried a thousand things without success, if you are asking yourself “why do I continue to feel this way despite everything I do?”, know that there is an answer.
And that you are not wrong. Your body is not sabotaging you. It is just asking to be listened to in the right way.
And that is where true healing begins.
