Receipts printed on thermal paper contain chemicals such as bisphenol A (BPA), a known endocrine disruptor.

Long-term exposure to BPA can cause hormonal disruption, premature puberty, birth defects, and uterine and breast cancer, as well as diabetes and obesity. Be careful with receipts. Don’t print the item and keep it in your pocket or wallet.

The University of Missouri found that holding a receipt for about two seconds with creamy hands causes BPA absorption 80 times greater than the allowable safety standard.

Hairbrushes can harbor surprisingly large amounts of bacteria. According to research by the Korea Institute of Health and Society, they contain up to 300 times more bacteria than a toilet handle and 20 times more than a shoe organizer.

These bacteria can cause itching, dandruff, folliculitis, and even hair loss. Soak the brush or comb in warm, soapy water for at least 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with a toothbrush. Then, allow it to dry completely in the sun.
