Eight medications that should not be taken due to kidney damage

Anticonvulsants: Such as phenytoin and trimethadione

Chemotherapeutic agents: In particular interferons, pamidronate, cisplatin, carboplatin, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, quinine, mitomycin C and bevacizumab, which can cause severe kidney damage.

Propylthiouracil: Medication used to treat thyroid problems.

Heartburn medications: Omeprazole, Lansoprazole, Pantoprazole, Rabeprazole, and Esomeprazole.

Antiviral medications such as acyclovir for the treatment of herpes and indinavir and tefonovir for the treatment of HIV.

Captopril: Antihypertensive.

Medicines for bones and joints: Infliximab for the treatment of arthritis, and chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of malaria and systemic lupus erythematosus.
