Although abnormal moles receive a lot of attention, there are other growths that should not be ignored:
– Actinic keratoses: Rough, scaly patches caused by sun damage; precursors to squamous cell carcinoma.
– Basal cell carcinomas: Pearly or waxy bumps that often appear on sun-exposed areas.
– Squamous cell carcinomas: Firm, reddened nodules or plaque-like lesions with a crusted surface.
– Seborrheic keratoses : Harmless brown or black growths that look like caked-on dirt, but are sometimes mistaken for cancerous lesions.

– A growth that occurs or develops rapidly.
– Persistent itching, pain or pressure sores in the affected area.
– Technology extends beyond the edge of the mole.
– An open wound that doesn’t heal.
