WhatsApp recently surprised its users with a clever new feature that improves the privacy of chats. It’s an alternative that allows you to automatically delete all messages you send or receive. Although this feature has been available for a few months, many of you still haven’t taken advantage of it. Find out what it is.
You know the saying: “Words fly, but what’s written remains.” And since the advent of instant messaging apps, we hold a certain amount of information and content that can be very sensitive. If you’re a little suspicious, and often as a security measure, you’d like to make certain very personal conversations disappear. To prevent this from falling into the wrong hands, you now have the option to systematically delete all messages that could be harmful to you. The same principle applies to photos or videos that automatically “self-destruct.” And to make it easier for you, WhatsApp lets you activate this option without even requesting a third-party app. As a bonus, this trick works perfectly on both operating systems, Apple and Android.
Steps to enable disappearing messages in WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp on your mobile or computer.
- Enter the conversation in which you want to enable these temporary messages.
- Tap the cat’s name at the top.
- Scroll down and open the “Temporary Messages” section.
- After reading the notice with all the information, press “Continue”.
- Click “Enabled”.
This is an option that can also be used in a WhatsApp group, although only the administrator can activate it.
Steps to Send Disappearing Photos on WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp and enter the chat in which you want to share the content.
- Tap the camera icon in the lower right corner.
- Select the photo or video you want to share from the gallery.
- Tap the circular button with a “1” in the middle, which appears in the lower right corner, next to the send button.
- When this button appears green, you have already activated the photo’s “self-destruction.” All you have to do is send it so the recipient can see it.
Good to know: Once you activate this trick, keep in mind that the files you have received will not be automatically deleted from your Smartphone, as this option only works in the WhatsApp application.
Why did smartphone manufacturers eliminate the small earpiece hole?
According to the Android4ll website, the new trend of smartphones without jack plugs paves the way for a noticeable evolution in the field of mobile equipment.
Here are the main reasons for this radical change:
- More durable cell phones: Manufacturers are working to offer users ever more powerful and durable devices. They have decided to eliminate certain weak points that risk ruining the longevity of smartphones. For example, the audio jack is considered a sensitive area because it easily allows liquids to penetrate and therefore damage the device.
- Better design: Removing this small hole also makes for a better design, allowing for the integration of other hardware elements that leave the entrance space.
- Marketing strategy: Finally, by removing the headphone jack, mobile manufacturers have also chosen to no longer include wired earphones in the box of their devices. This is clearly a marketing strategy that further boosts the sales of wireless earphones like Apple’s AirPods and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds.
