Sugar-Free Apple Cinnamon Jam: Delicious, Healthy and Diet-Friendly

  1. Prepare the apples : Wash the apples thoroughly under running water. Peel and remove the seeds. Cut them into cubes of similar size to ensure even cooking.
  2. Cooking : Place the apple cubes in a large pot with the water and lemon juice. Turn the heat to medium and bring to a boil.
  3. Add the spices : Once the apples have started to simmer, add the cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir well and reduce the heat. Simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and turn into a sort of compote.
  4. Mashing the apples : When the apples are soft enough to easily mash with a fork, turn off the heat and use a potato masher or fork to mash the apples until they are smooth.
  5. Reduce : Return the pan to the stove over low heat and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the jam has thickened to the desired consistency. This should take about another 15-20 minutes.
  6. Cool and store : Once the desired consistency is reached, remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes. Transfer the jam while still hot into sterilized glass jars and seal them tightly. Let cool completely at room temperature before storing in the refrigerator.
