Procedure
- Cut the top off of an empty plastic bottle to create a funnel that allows you to safely connect the hose to the toilet.
- Cut the end of the hose pipe at an angle to make it easier to insert into the toilet and direct the flow of water toward the clog.
- Insert the end of the hose into the toilet drain, pushing it as close to the clog as possible for best results.
- Seal the connection between the hose and the plastic bottle with tape or plastic sealant to prevent water leaks during the process.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda into the toilet before you begin the unclogging process. This will help break up blockages and eliminate unpleasant odors.
- Pour some vinegar into the funnel of the plastic bottle after inserting the hose into the toilet. The vinegar will react with the baking soda, creating a fizz that will break down clogs.
- I let the mixture sit in the toilet for at least 10-15 minutes to allow the chemicals to work and break down the clog more effectively.
- Turn on the faucet and let the water flow through the hose to clear the clog. Hold the hose in place until the water flows freely down the drain.
- Remove the hose and check to see if the toilet is unclogged. Repeat the process if necessary.
