Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers dies at the age of 48

Sam Rivers, bassist and co-founder of the American nu-metal band Limp Bizkit, has died at the age of 48, the band announced on Saturday evening.

“Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heart and soul,” wrote singer Fred Durst, guitarist Wes Borland, drummer John Otto and DJ Lethal (turntables) in an Instagram post that did not mention the cause of Sam Rivers’ death.

“He wasn’t just our bassist, he was pure magic… From the first note we played together, Sam brought a radiance and rhythm that are irreplaceable. His talent was innate, his charisma unforgettable, his heart as big as the world,” the musicians added. “Your music will never fall silent,” they wrote, paying tribute to a “true legend among legends.”
