This unique cheese sauce combines intense flavors with a delicate melt, elevating this fast-food classic to a new level. Ideal for cozy evenings, parties, or as a sophisticated snack between meals.

 Ingredients:

For approx. 2-3 servings:

  • 1 THE Butter

  • 1 tbsp flour (type 405)

  • 250 ml milk (whole milk or plant-based alternative)

  • 150 g spicy Cheddar (grated)

  • 50 g Gouda (grated, for extra melt)

  • 1 tsp mustard (Dijon or medium-hot)

  • ½ tsp paprika powder (sweet)

  • 1 pinch of nutmeg (optional)

  • Salt & freshly ground pepper to taste

 Preparation method:

  1. Melt butter:  Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Make the roux:  Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until it is light golden yellow.

  3. Stir in milk:  Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

  4. Melt the cheese:  Stir in the grated cheese in portions until a smooth, creamy mixture forms.

  5. Season to taste:  Add mustard, paprika, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Stir well again and keep warm over low heat until the fries are ready to serve.
