1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Granulated sugar, for coating
Optional fillings: pastry cream, jam, Nutella, lemon curd
