Scientists have confirmed that the root of this plant is more effective than chemotherapy because chemical treatment destroys all cells, while dandelion root only kills cancer cells.

A group of scientists from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor in Canada conducted preliminary research, and their results have brought new hope to cancer sufferers. Dandelion root has been proven to effectively kill cancer cells without harming healthy cells. Siyaram Pandey, a biochemist at the University of Windsor, was skeptical when oncologist Dr. Caroline Hamm suggested the study. She noticed that some cancer patients who drank dandelion tea felt significantly better.
Siyaram Pandey began his research over two years ago, working with blood samples from leukemia patients and analyzing the effects of dandelion root extracts. He and Dr. Hamm were surprised to discover that leukemia cells from a very aggressive form, known as chronic monocytic myeloid leukemia, were driven to apoptosis, or cell suicide. Cancer cells, being anaerobic organisms, undergo apoptosis in the presence of appropriate oxygenation or alkalization.
