We often forget them under our socks or in our shoes, and yet… Our feet have a lot to say about our health! What if some small, innocuous signals could, in reality, reflect the state of our heart? It may be surprising, but our extremities can sometimes sound the alarm long before a serious cardiovascular disorder occurs. So, are you ready to look at your feet in a different way?
Icy feet… even under the duvet?

Do you often have cold feet, even when the heating is on or you are wearing two pairs of socks? It doesn’t have to be just bad traffic “as usual”. In reality, a heart that has trouble circulating blood efficiently can cause this feeling of cold in the extremities. If it becomes constant, especially during the day, it is best to talk to a health professional.
Swollen ankles at the end of the day? Not so trivial…
After a long day on your feet or a car or train ride, it’s normal to have a little heavy legs. But if your feet and ankles seem to swell regularly, to the point where you leave sock marks that linger, it may be a sign that your body is holding water. And this retention, when repeated, can sometimes signal a tired heart. A little health check never hurts!
Blue toes or very pale feet

An unusual discolouration of your feet or toes – bluish, purplish or very pale – can be linked to poor blood oxygenation. In plain English, this means that the blood is not circulating as well as it should. This is often a sign of a slowing down of the cardiovascular system. If this phenomenon is repeated, it deserves to be examined.
Tingling, numbness… It’s not always a simple position
A tingling or a feeling of “sleepy” legs after sitting for a long time, we know. But if it happens often, or even during light activity, it can be a sign of poor circulation in the legs. This is sometimes associated with a condition called arterial disease of the lower limbs (PAD), which can be closely linked to heart health.
Small wounds that heal poorly
A scratch or blister that seems to take a long time to heal? This is often a sign that the blood is not getting to the affected area properly… so that oxygen and nutrients do not manage to do it either. It can also indicate a fragility of the vascular system. And if you are affected by diabetes, vigilance must be redoubled.
Pain when walking: not to be minimized

Cramps in your feet or calves after a few minutes of walking? It’s not necessarily a lack of training. This pain, which is called “claudication”, can be a real warning signal. It indicates that your muscles lack oxygen due to insufficient circulation, a problem that can sometimes lead to more serious cardiovascular problems.
Remain zen, but attentive
Although they alone do not predict a heart attack, these unusual signals observed in the feet can reveal poor circulation or cardiovascular fragility. If they become recurrent or are accompanied by other symptoms such as shortness of breath or excessive fatigue, it is strongly advised to consult a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying risks.
A quick look at your feet… and you could learn a lot more about your well-being than you imagined!
